                                                          DIY Faux Fur Bench Makeover

Who Knew Making a Faux Fur Bench Could Be This Easy?

Who knew a plain little bench could turn into something this cute?

Who knew a plain little bench could turn into something this cute? This DIY Faux Fur Bench Makeover shows how a simple thrift-store find can be transformed into a soft, cosy and stylish piece of furniture. Sometimes all it takes is looking at something you already have—or something you find at a thrift store—and seeing what it could be instead of what it is right now.

That’s exactly what happened with this DIY Faux Fur Bench Makeover.

Adding faux fur completely changed its personality. It went from ordinary to soft, cozy, and just a little glamorous. It’s the kind of piece that looks adorable at the foot of a bed, under a window, in a dressing area, or even in an entryway.

And here’s the best part: it’s much easier than it looks.

I took this old coffee table I found in a thrift store for $20 and turned it into a beautiful fur bench.

Why Faux Fur Works So Well

One of the things I love about faux fur is the texture.

You can have a room filled with soft neutral colors, but sometimes it still needs something. Faux fur adds that extra layer without introducing another busy pattern or a lot of color.

And you certainly don’t have to use white. Cream, blush, caramel, gray, or even a fun bold color could give the same bench an entirely different look.

That’s part of the fun of DIY. You get to make it yours.

It’s the Little Details That Make It Look Professional

Here’s something I’ve learned after years of transforming furniture: the difference between something that looks homemade and something that looks professionally finished often lies in the little details.

With a DIY Faux Fur Bench Makeover, things like choosing the right fabric, understanding which direction the fur should run, getting the right amount of softness in the seat, and knowing how to handle those bulky corners can completely change the finished look.

Those are the things you don’t necessarily think about when you first look at a project like this.

You just think, How hard could it be? I’ll wrap some fur around the seat and staple it underneath.

Well…almost. 😂

There are a few tricks that make the process much easier and give you a much prettier finished bench.

Don’t Let Upholstery Intimidate You

If you’ve never upholstered anything before, this is exactly the kind of project that can help you get comfortable with it.

You don’t need years of experience, or a workshop filled with professional equipment.

What you do need is someone to show you what to look for, what matters, what doesn’t, and how to avoid the little mistakes that can make a simple project frustrating.

That’s why I created my DIY Faux Fur Bench Course.

Instead of trying to figure everything out from a few photos or written instructions, you can watch me actually do it.

I walk you through the entire DIY Faux Fur Bench Makeover, so you can see how I work with the faux fur, how I get a nice finished look, and what I do when I get to those areas that can feel a little tricky.

Because sometimes reading “fold the corner” isn’t nearly as helpful as actually watching someone fold the corner!

You Can Do This

That’s really what I want you to take away from this project.

You don’t have to be a professional furniture painter or upholsterer to create something beautiful for your home.

You just need a little guidance and the confidence to try.

Once you understand the techniques, you’ll start looking at old benches completely differently. That forgotten bench at the thrift store might suddenly become the perfect piece for your bedroom.

And once you’ve done one?

Don’t be surprised if you start looking around your house wondering what else you can transform.

What You’ll Need for Your DIY Faux Fur Bench Makeover

Your exact supplies will depend on the bench you’re starting with, but here’s a simple list to help you plan:

  • A sturdy bench or coffee table
  • Faux fur fabric large enough to cover the seat with extra fabric on every side
  • Upholstery foam, if the existing cushion needs more softness
  • Batting to smooth the shape, if needed
  • A staple gun and upholstery staples
  • Fabric scissors
  • A screwdriver or drill
  • Pliers or a staple remover
  • Measuring tape
  • Paint and finishing supplies if you plan to update the base
  • A vacuum, because faux fur has a personality of its own
