Trying to manage multiple social media platforms can be time-consuming and daunting.
Who has time for all this busy work anyway? I know I don’t. But on the other hand, we know it needs to get done. So how do you handle the extra workload?
Have you ever heard the phrase; you can only eat an elephant one bit at a time? YUCK! Who came up with that???
I found that the best way to manage all my social media platforms to increase my followers and get my social media platforms to grow is to check my Google Analytics and make a list of what social sites are bringing me traffic.
This is a great way to see where your PEEPS are hanging out and what platforms you need to pay attention to.
If you don’t have a Google Analytics account go HERE
Here’s what you need to do
Go to your Google Analytics and look at your insights
Acquisitions –- All Traffic – Referrals
You will get a wealth of valuable information here. They will have a list of the social media platforms that people are finding you on, except for Facebook. I’ll talk more about that later.
It will also give you a breakdown of the posts people clicked on to reach your site.
My top referral source is Pinterest. When I’m in this section, I click on the Pinterest link and it takes me to the top pins/images that people are looking at.
I love this because I can see what posts are generating the most traffic and the ones that aren’t. This helps me to understand what my followers like so I can create more posts that are relevant and what they like.
Now that I know Pinterest is my #1 traffic generator, I want to give it a lot of LOVE.
Here are a few ways that I help grow my Pinterest account
Find new boards to follow and re-pin new content. Just go to the search bar and run a search like you would on Google.
This is a great way to find new content and new pins to add to your board. Also, to follow people that have content that you are looking for.
Unfortunately, the only one that doesn’t participate in Google Analytics is Facebook
The only way to check your analytics is to go to the insights on your business Facebook page.
Go to the top of the page where it says “More” then click on insights. Scroll down to the bottom of the page. You will see a list of all your posts. Off to the right you will see your reach and engagement for each post.
You want to check your insights once a week to see if there is a pattern. You will start to see what posts are getting the most engagement and what your followers are interested in. The more post you have that have engagement the better. The more people engage the more Facebook will show them to more people.
Here’s what you want to look at:
- Your top 5 posts for the week
- What was your topic? video-photo-question-meme ect.
- What day of the week did you post it
- What time of day did you post it
If your posts aren’t getting enough engagement try posting at different times during the day.
Look to see what time of the day people are engaging the most. While you are in your insights on the left side click on POSTS to see what day & time people are active on your page.
Don’t worry if you’re not getting a ton of engagement when you first start. It takes time. Keep checking your analytics and create content that your followers want, and you’ll start to see more and more people following you and engaging.
